ACC's geographic footprint has 19.2 million more residents...
than the Big 10's. In 2025, the ACC will have 22.54 million more residents and 32.64 million more residents by 2050.
The Midwest will continue to grow despite all the talk about the dying Midwest. Illinois is projected to grow at a fast pace due to foreign immigration. New Jersey's population will also increase rapidly due to foreign immigration. Maryland will also experience a healthy growth spurt. Many demographic analysts expect an increase in immigration in the next 35 years. Immigrants will find NYC metro and Chicago attractive along with the other top U.S. metropolitan areas. Yes, it is true that the Midwest won't grow at the same pace as the South and West, but it will still be growing. Even Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania will grow. It's states like Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and West Virginia that will have slow population growth.
The question is "How many of these new immigrants will follow American college football?" I would say "Very few." I have a feeling soccer will become one of America's top spectator sports by 2050. Will the P-5 schools be showcasing their men's soccer games in their football stadiums by 2050? If the predicted demographic changes become a reality, I believe they will.
